This is the DEXA scan that has gained a lot of interest within the past few years for it's ability to accurately and easily measure a person's body fat percentage, how much lean muscle mass they have, and how strong their bones are.
This data is important when creating plans for our clients because it allows our coaches and physicians to be both qualitative and quantitative for goal setting.
By using this information, we can assess overall risk for cardiometabolic syndrome, potential for fracture, and other factors.
We can also identify what are adequate to optimal levels of dietary protein to build lean tissue that may help a client with functional risk factors, prediabetes or type 2 diabetes risk factors, and to reduce body fat levels that impact a broad range of preventable diseases.
This DEXA yields very low amounts of radiation, which is recognized as the equivalent of flying from NYC to LAX.
While clients may repeat a scan as often as monthly, Cenegenics coaches and physicians tend to aim for quarterly follow-ups.
